Asia, Decca and more Hello everyone! A lot has happened since my last post. I went back to Korea and Japan with Wouter Hamel to play a couple of concerts. In Korea we played two very cool gigs in the Olympic garden, outside for a crowd of very enthousiastic Korean fans! In between those concerts we flew to Tokyo to play at the Tokyo Jazz Festival. The amazing hall, great other artists and bands and 5000 people made us feel humble and thankful. Outside the venue was a Holland-Japan festival with our friends Benjamin Herman and the New Cool Collective, they rocked the house!
I've been very busy with Wouter the last couple of months. We did a very succesful clubtour in the Netherlands, performed at Quasimodo in Berlin, also Bush Hall in London and the Moby Dick in Madrid. The reason for this European tour is of course our worldwide deal with Decca/Universal! It's huge and will give us the opportunity to promote our music worldwide. As you can probably imagine, I'm very excited about all this. We'll be back this November to play at the Jazz Cafe in London and will go back to Korea after Christmas. There's is a lot more in the pipeline for next year, but I can't say too much about that right now.
Other artists like Aron Raams, Rogier Telderman and Marc van Roon/Art in Rhythm have also kept me quite busy over the last couple of weeks. You should check me out on Charlene Meulenberg's (she came in second in the last series of the Dutch version of Idols) brand new debut album on Dox Records. I played percussion on most of the tracks. It has turned out to be a very groovy record with my friend Tim Dudek on drums. I also had the pleasure to play on Shirma Rouse her new album. The album will be released in 2010, also with another friend on drums: Salle de Jong! And on top of that, if all goes well, I'll be recording new tracks for the new album of Sensuāl pretty soon as well.
Take care,
Gijs
