North Sea Jazz, De Kuip and Pearl Percussion

Thursday, 07 August 2008

Hello everyone,

June and July have been extremely busy. Both Wouter Hamel and band as well as Sensual have been playing many concerts in many places around Holland. Although all the concerts were great, there were some that were highlights in my career. Sensual rocked the stage on Friday 11th July at the North Sea Jazz Festival and tt was a blast. The audience was great and the excellent guitarist (and good friend) Rory Ronde - a.k.a. Kofi Anynomous - joined us. What a night! Especially because I had the honour to join Rory with Giovanca on the same stage after I had finished playing with Wouter Hamel! Two great concerts in a row.

Mia Silvas, Giovanca and more

Sunday, 04 May 2008

Hello everyone,

The 28th of March the Wouter Hamel Clubtour 2008 kicked off at the Boerderij in Zoetermeer. Since then it has been a wonderful trip, i.e. most venues are sold out and the crowd is amazing. Check Wouter 's site and Hyves for responses.

Mia Silvas (the sister of Lucie Silvas) has joined our ranks temporarily, together with guitarist Ryan, for the duration of the tour. Great music and great people - they surprised us on the last evening with genuine dutch apple pie! Mia did a great job singing Giovanca's part in As Long as we're in Love.

Speaking of Giovanca, her album Subway Silence is out now. I had the pleasure of taking care of the percussion parts of the CD, under the guidance of producer Benny (Sings). The album contains some soulful, hard funking music with guest appareances of Benny and Marc Lotz on flute.

I also played on Giovanca's CD release party in Paradiso, Amsterdam (with monster drummer Tim Dudek and my friend Kofi Anymous on the guitar). A night to remember!

Anwyway, that's it for now. The next couple of weeks will be hectic, but I'll tray and keep you informed.

Japan Tour, Salve & more

Friday, 07 March 2008

It's already two weeks since I've been back in Holland from the wouter Hamel tour in Japan. What can I say, it has been an amazing experience and a big success. In only 6 days we did 8 concerts, 4 in the Billboard Club Osaka and 4 in the Billboard Club in Tokyo. Sold out houses and an audience that went crazy (check wouterhamel.com for all video footage and photos).

Going Gold at Mooi Weer de Leeuw

Wednesday, 20 February 2008

It's always fun to perform on television, especially when it's Mooi Weer De Leeuw. But today's visit to Paul de Leeuw's show was extra special, because Wouter Hamel received a Gold Record Award for his debut album Hamel. At the end of the show Wouter, Pieter, Jasper, Sven and myself performed Maybe I'll Enjoy It Next Year with special guest Benjamin Herman.
